The 2012 Stallionshow

The 2012 Stallion show

The 3 day stallion show was again a great event and has improved further this year with a substantial amount of clinics being conducted. Topics like frozen semen and frozen embryos presented by Prof. Tom Stout, dressage training by European champion Adelinde Cornelissen, preparing your horse for a keuring by inspector Louise Hompe and trainer Sjoerd Meekma were very well attended. There were many session in parallel and I noticed our member Martyn Minns driving around with a pair of Friesians in an obstacle course. The show evening was of very high calibre this year with a colourful display of light and sound with performing horses and performing artists. One highlight was the performance of Adelinde Cornelissen on Haitse 425 sport and singer Falco Luneau. Watch a video clip on youtube click here

Saturday is always the big day with all stallions being presented and the year’s champions being honoured. The horse of the year, elected by 900 people was  Annichje Fan Bokkum. During the last hour of the program the tension rises with champions of the different age groups being in the ring for the stallion championship. This year a champion of the “older” stallions was rewarded, and with Jasper and his son Beart in the ring, the atmosphere was electric. Beart became the champion. For the young stallions it was the outstanding Norbert that became champion. The last event was for the overall champion of the stallionshow for 2012 which went to Norbert. Beart was reserve Champion. For a video clip click here.

We can recommend a visit to the stallion show to any member. It is a great atmosphere with 8,500 spectators, and if you are lucky you can also enjoy a winter in Europe with ice and snow at the same time! For any questions or advice on how to attend the stallionshow, please feel free to contact the ANZFHS.
